Healthy Skincare Habits
Most of us want healthy, glowing skin and envy those who never seem to struggle with acne. How do they do it? A big part of it is genes, but there are healthy skincare habits everyone can make to get that glowing look everyone desires.
Wash Your Face – Gently!
One of the most important things you can do for clear skin is to wash your face every day. According to aad.org, you should wash your face in the morning, at night before bed, and after sweating. This will help keep dirt and bacteria out of your pores. Remember to always wash your face gently to avoid irritating your skin.
Use Sunscreen Outdoors
Whenever you are going outdoors remember to always apply sunscreen first. Even if the sun is not shining, you can still burn. No matter who you are, sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more will help keep your skin smooth by preventing wrinkles caused by the sun.
Avoid Stress
Stress is one of the worst things for our skin. It can cause acne and wrinkles. Not only that, but it can flare up other skin conditions like eczema, rosacea, and psoriasis. It is so important to either avoid stress or find ways to manage it.
A few ways to manage stress are:
- taking a break
- going for a walk
- reading a book
- meditating
- positive thinking or self-talk
- doing yoga
Use the right products for your skin type
Everyone’s skin is unique; therefore, we all require different products. Some skin is oily. Some are dry. Others are sensitive. Look for products that match your skin type.
Drink More Water
Skin is made up of cells and cells require water to function properly. It is important to make sure our skin is hydrated. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day will help you keep your skin hydrated. Water also reaches the skin after all the other organs in our body, so one way we can help keep the water locked into our skin is to apply a hydrating moisturizer right after getting out of the shower. Without water, our skin becomes dry, flaky, and is more prone to wrinkling.
Do Not Smoke
Smoking will cause your skin to age faster and slow down how fast your skin heals itself.
